Night Time Industry Association

Challenge

An outdated belief that late-night public transport mainly serves young partygoers has led to inadequate services, leaving many essential workers—nurses, hospitality staff, and cleaners—relying on costly taxis or ride-shares. In the context of rising living costs, affordable transportation options are increasingly critical, especially as over half of late-night commuters earn less than $80,000 annually.

Solution

Leveraging the Pathzz platform, the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA) was able to reveal that less than 20% of late-night patrons are under 25.

The insights highlighted that the majority of night-time commuters are workers, not revellers, sparking a call for better public transport options.

Result

In October 2024, the insights were referenced in New South Wales Parliament to support the push for a 24/7 metro service, addressing the broader needs of the night-time workforce.

Pathzz’s insights dispelled misconceptions and this evidence-based advocacy is now shaping efforts to create safer, more affordable transport options for all.

"Pathzz is transforming the way we understand our cities and the night time economy. With real-time, behavioural insights, we’re able to demonstrate the critical importance of the night time economy to the broader community and make it easier for our members to run their businesses."
